
Celebrating Excellence in Concrete Construction
The Concrete Foundations Association (CFA) proudly recognized outstanding achievements in the industry at the 2025 CFA Projects of the Year and Professional Awards ceremony. Held in Deadwood, South Dakota, during the CFA Concrete Foundations Convention, this event not only celebrated the remarkable successes of its members but also marked the CFA's 50th anniversary.
Innovative Projects Set the Bar High
With an increase in submissions this year, James Baty, the CFA executive director, noted how creativity and craftsmanship by members are continually raising industry standards. Winners were announced across multiple categories, showcasing projects that demonstrated innovative solutions to complex challenges.
Highlighting Top Achievements
The following projects received accolades:
- Single Family Foundation <2,000 sq. ft.: Uni-Foundations Inc. for the Lake Holiday home, notable for adaptive design to a steeply sloped site.
- Single Family Foundation 2,000–5,000 sq. ft.: MJ Lorenz Concrete for Christmas Lake curve, recognized for precision and advanced reinforcement coordination.
- Single Family Foundation 10,000–15,000 sq. ft.: Herbert Construction Co. for the Lake Rabun house, which met remote access challenges with technical adeptness.
- Non-Foundation Structural Element: SDP Concrete Ltd. for Walls to Nowhere, exemplifying efficient project execution.
Grand Project of the Year
The coveted title of Grand Project of the Year was awarded to Mills Foundations for the Parsons Residence, a hallmark of innovative planning and craftsmanship for a single-family foundation between 5,000–10,000 sq. ft. The project overcame significant site challenges, reflecting the dedication and expertise of Mills Foundations.
